About BCPS Nursery

Excellent care and education for children aged from two years

Our on-site 40 place school-led Nursery provides excellent care and education for children aged from two years. BCPS Nursery is led by our Early Year’s Deputy Lead Amy Harris, who works very closely with our Early Years Phase Leader, Hannah James. Amy also works alongside our Deputy Phase Lead, Laura Mercy and our two Reception class teachers, Annie Pullman and Rebecca Houghton, forming our very successful Foundation Stage teaching team. The Nursery delivers the first part of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is continued through into the Reception class, providing progression matched to each child’s developmental stages from two to five years.

You can access the Nursery admissions policy for current in-year admissions and the Nursery application form via the Trust website.

We are an inclusive and innovative school which endeavours to create an environment which fosters a love of learning and offers opportunities for children to work both collaboratively and independently to meet their full potential. Our Nursery strives to provide a wide range of opportunities and experiences to encourage our youngest children to develop their natural curiosity and thinking skills.  In this way they will develop the foundations upon which they will continue to build throughout their school career and beyond.

Session Times

The Nursery sessions run from:

8.00am to 9.00am (3-4 year olds only)

9.00am to 12.00pm (Morning Session)

12.00pm to 3.00pm (Afternoon Session)

3.00pm to 6.00pm (3-4 year olds only)

Children attending a morning session need to be collected at 12.00pm. Children attending an afternoon session, or all day, need to be collected at 3.00pm, unless they are attending the 3.00 - 6.00pm session.

Lunch

Lunch times are part of the education of the children as they teach them key social skills. We therefore allow for lunch to be eaten at the end of the morning sessions or at the beginning of the afternoon session, depending on your child’s session pattern.
Children attending a morning session only can have lunch at 11.30am or you may prefer your child to eat at home with you.

Children attending an afternoon session only can have lunch when they arrive at 12.00pm.

We offer nursery children the chance to become part of our Dining Club where between one and five lunches per week can be purchased in advance, with a weekly pre-order of your child’s menu choices. The current menu can be viewed on the school website (under the parents’ tab) and we send out the next term's menu choices at the end of the previous term. Alternatively your child can bring a packed lunch from home.
